Organ Pipes National Park

I'd been past the sign dozens of times but I'd never been to Hanging Rock. So on New Years Day I charged up the camera battery and set off to finally explore it. It's only an hour up the road and there was a great episode on Radio National on Blind Willie Johnson to keep me bopping along.

But Hanging Rock is going to have to wait for another day as I decided not to pay the $25 entry fee which I later discovered was because there was a New Years Race Day on.

So instead I called in to the Organ Pipes National Park. Good call. Firstly, it was free. And it was just perfect. Not crowded. Plenty of things to photograph. And my soul just sings when I'm walking along in nature with my camera in my hand. It's my happy place.

Next time I'll take the aerogard though.

Fascinating Flora

This ageing flower was sitting in a vase at my kitchen window in Melbourne. I was washing the dishes and admiring them when I figured I should grab the camera and and see what I could come up with. Aren't the colours and lines and textures great?

Around Melbourne

I love living in Melbourne. It's still such a novelty to me. I walk the streets and always find so many things I want to photograph. So much so, that I bought myself a new camera that I can carry in my bag at all times. The 5DmkII Canon dSLR gets a bit heavy when you're just wandering around. So now I have the Fuji XT-2 Mirrorless camera and I'm loving it. 

These are two favourites from a recent walk to Fitzroy. From the classic simplicity of the three windows to the quirky but clever painting of the surprised face, and of course, the trams, there's always something new and interesting to discover. 

Group Exhibition

I'm curating a group exhibition to be held at Manningham Art Gallery (North-East Melbourne) in April 2017. The contributing participants are all past students who have attended a short course with me at RMIT. Oh, and me. That makes 10 of us. It's going to be great. 
I've been so caught up in making sure everyone else is on track, that I keep forgetting I have to take photos for it too. I had a change of plans on the weekend resulting in some rare free time, so I started working on some ideas. Here's one from the day. I'll be back with more soon and a bit more information about what it's all about.
